		Selangor Serves You Better Selangor has long been known for being one of the most actively developing and dynamic states in Malaysia. Its strategic location, together with the prudent planning and foresight of the State and Federal Governments, has contributed largely towards its progress. The economic growth of the State has been nothing short of impressive. Selangor´s gross domestic product (GDP) has more than doubled in the last decade, from RM14,663 billion in 1991 and projected to RM40,401.33 billion in 2001. The State´s per capita GDP has risen from RM12,755 billion in 1999 to RM14,295 in 2001.

Since the wheels of industrialisation in Malaysia began turning about 20 years ago, both local and foreign investors have played a great role in the development of Selangor. Reports released by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority have confirmed Selangor´s leading position as the most attractive investment centre for local and foreign investment.

The investors and corporations which have established their presence in Selangor come from diverse nations. The state plays host to investors from Japan, Korea, the United States, Sweden and Britain, among others, and we would like to welcome more into establishing operations here.

Selangor offers unique advantages to its investors. For one, it has an excellent infrastructure with sea and air linkages with the Far East, Europe and the US. Corporations which establish a presence here have been impressed with the State´s advanced network of roads, supply of utilities such as water and electricity and communications systems.

	*Selangor - Centre of Investment Opportunities* The state of Selangor has been blessed with an excellent track record of investment activity.Improving the lot of all people everywhere in the state is given the topmost priority. The state government also keeps tab on the rapid pace of modernization and is tapping into the latest technological advances to ensure that they effectively benefit the state socially and economically. Part of the strategy is enhancing economic development, with industrialisation as a major pillar. With the open and market oriented economy that flourishes here, it is only natural that we should welcome investors who wish to assist in our economic growth on the basis of mutul gain, smart partnership and a win-win situation. This was proven when in 2000 the State approved a total of RM9,022 billion worth of investments. From January until March 2001 approved projects from foreign and local participation was at RM1,237 billion. The State of Selangor will continue to play its role as motivator of the country´s development. I am confident that with the existence of an efficient administration machinery, infrastructure and communication facilities, which are complete, and with the development of projects such as the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Port Klang, Multimedia super Corridor and others, the value of every investment in the state will increase. With the existence of all types of facilites, coupled with political stability, investors need not have any apprehensions about venturing into Selangor.
